From Big Rigs: JAPANESE truck manufacturers Isuzu have come out swinging in 2016 with the launch of their new F Series trucks.

The company told journalists in Melbourne at the Australian launch of the product that they recognised they had to "innovate or die".

They've evolved the 4HK1 engine.  Now with less displacement the engine delivers more torque than ever - 726Nm from 5.2lt (in the 4-cylinder).

Back in 1986 when the F series was first introduced to the market the engine was 5.8lt and delivered only 353Nm of torque, 10 years later it was an 8.2lt engine delivering around the 500Nm range.

And it does this using less fuel than ever. But there's more fuel savings in store, adding in Idle Stop Technology buying an Isuzu could save you 5-10% on your fuel bill.

It doesn't stop there, Isuzu say customers are already seeing fuel savings just by utilising their telematics solution - PFD saw a 3.9% saving in two weeks.

Isuzu have released more models, wheelbases and variants for any application you can think of.

The look has changed, there's a new grille design and updates inside the cab.
The F series comes in 2x4 and 4x4 variants. It comes with the new high torque 4HK1 turbocharged and intercooled diesel engine or the new 6-cylinder 6HK1 engine with Diesel Oxidation Catalyst.

A new torque converted allows seamless automatic like driving in the AMT models. Models include 4x2 FRR (including tipper) and FRD, 11t GVM FRR in the four-cylinder or six-cylinder), 12-14t FSR (four-cyl), 14t FSR and FSD (six-cyl), 15t FTR, 16t 4x2 FVR and FVD.
